This is why I’ve created the Heal Your Gut Masterclass, so that I could reach more people and teach them that healing is possible.

Module 1: Nutrition Foundations! 
In the first module we dive right into the importance of nutrition foundations for gut health. We go through topics like the gut-brain connection and the HPA axis and you begin to understand how much your brain plays a role in your gut. I discuss different types of stressors and give guidance and resources on how to build stress resiliency. How to support your adrenals, blood sugar and sleep through lifestyle, nutrition and specific supplementation. 

Module 2: Rest & Digest & Digestive Hygiene 
In the second module we branch off of the first and dive into your nervous system. How to move out of a state of stress and into a state of calm. You will understand how healing the gut is a top-down process starting in the brain, the mouth, and working down from there. After this module you will begin to implement rest & digest & food foreplay into your daily meals. We also touch on the role your oral microbiome plays on your gut and ways to support it. 

Module 3: My Three Step Process
This module is where I lay out my effective 3-step process to heal the gut. This is what I use with my 1:1 clients and I share it all with you here. You will have a clear understanding of why most gut healing attempts fail and why healing needs to be done in phases. We discuss the typical timeline of how long the healing process takes and when to know you are ready to transition into “normal” living. 

Module 4: Symptoms & Conditions
This module is by far the longest module and the most exciting. You will become knowledgeable on studying your poop from it’s color to it’s shape and knowing what it might indicate. I go over each gut symptom and condition and how to apply the 3-Step protocol to each one. We start with reflux & indigestion (which also includes nausea), then we move into Bloating & Constipation, next we cover Diarrhea, from here we jump into IBS (is IBS really a diagnosis?), different types and uses for fiber and the low-FODMAP diet. We go through IBD, UC, and Crohn’s disease and end on Hemorrhoids. I also touch on my thoughts on wheat & glyphosate and their impact on our gut. 




In this course you will learn the step-by-step process I use with my 1:1 clients to effectively eliminate symptoms & heal their guts, for the long haul. It is slide & video based and self-paced to allow for learning in a way that works for you! The course is packed with valuable information, leaving out the fluff, so you can get right into healing and not waste any time.

Module 5: Drainage, Detox & the GIMAP
We get into bowel regularity, drainage pathways, and ways to support detoxification and elimination. You’ll gain insight into how your liver & gallbladder affect your gut and how to properly support them. I then take you through a sample functional stool test, the GI-MAP and how I interpret the results and what dietary + supplement protocols I might use during the 3-step process. We’ll talk about things like H.Pylori, SIBO, and Candida overgrowths as well as parasites and cleansing. We finish up going over intestinal-health markers and leaky gut. 

Module 6: Food Sensitivity Testing
In this module we go through the MRT LEAP food sensitivity test that I am certified in and run with my 1:1 clients. You will learn when and why you would run this test and how you would apply the results to the 3-step process. You will have the opportunity to enroll in a “Test Don’t Guess” package which includes my professional interpretation + recommendations based off your results. This package is only offered to those who have gone through the Heal Your Gut Masterclass and is a phenomenal deal. 

Module 7: Hack Your Cycle, this was a last minute bonus module I just had to include.
Because all too often I see clients whose bowel movements and symptoms are impacted by their menstrual cycle. I teach you how to hack your menstrual cycle to better support your bowel movements & health. You will learn about all 4-phases of your cycle and the foods, supplements, exercise, and other modalities that best support you during each week. I keep these recommendations straightforward and do-able because the last thing you need is more confusion!

The first month is where we take the time to do a detailed assessment. You will complete an in-depth assessment form and I will use my professional lens to evaluate your past & present to develop a plan of action. If we order labs prior to the initial session we review the results and include these in our plan. We may order additional labs as well.

Your first month is focused on foundations. You will have a clear, personalized plan laid out for you along with ongoing support.



As we meet each month I make sure you are progressing with your plan. I guide you though each phase of your journey, providing
empathy, accountability, and education.

As one phase ends another begins. We troubleshoot any areas of concern, review your nutrition intake and supplement protocols, strategize barriers and celebrate wins. We may continue to order labs if needed.

You receive typed protocols after each session which may include additional recipes, handouts, and materials. 





This is our graduation month! We check in on your goals and progress and make sure you have a long-term strategy for continued success and tools to refer to if you hit a bump in the road. We will discuss continuation sessions if needed. 


Many clients decide to check in quarterly for the first year or so and enroll in continued VIP messaging support. Once you have completed the signature package you are a Bodhi client for life, which means you can continue to meet for sessions as-needed for years to come!

Do You Participate with Insurance?

After many years participating with standard health insurance plans I have stepped away from that method and am now considered an out of network provider. I can provide a superbill to you which you can submit to your plan for reimbursement; many insurance plans will reimburse up to 80% of your sessions!

I was not lighthearted in this decision as I truly believe good nutrition counseling should be accessible to ALL. Unfortunately, after many years of being an in-network provider I became burnt out with the inconsistency in what insurance plans would and wouldn’t cover. I spent countless hours fighting with insurance plans to try and get my client’s coverage, time that could have been spent HELPING more people. 

Insurance often dictates what health conditions are necessary to see a dietitian, how many sessions you can have, and the length of those sessions. They also do not cover for time not spent face-to-face like meal plans, lab testing and analysis, email or messaging correspondence. I decided that being an out of network dietitian would ultimately allow me to provide my clients the in-depth care they need and deserve. With the additional time and lack of restrictions from insurance plans I am able to offer comprehensive personalized care, bonus services like VIP messaging and more frequent check-ins for accountability and support. I can spend the time we need to investigate your current symptoms and develop a personalized plan.

Conventional insurance-based medicine is built around the concept of labeling you with a reimbursable diagnostic code (medical diagnosis) and then finding the medications or a treatment to match.
 
A functional nutrition model of care looks at balances/imbalances, considers the connection of mind-body-spirit and often can’t label your symptoms with a single diagnostic name. This whole-body approach is rarely a covered service by insurance. 
 
In addition to your face-to-face sessions I am spending much time before and afterwards researching your unique case to get to the root of your issue, using advanced testing that takes more time and knowledge to interpret, and then personalizing your treatment plan to include natural therapies, none of this is covered by insurance.

Health insurance will cover standard labs based on medical need. Majority of insurance plans do not cover for in-depth functional nutrition lab work or food sensitivity testing. This is one reason your medical provider doesn’t offer these tests. If there are other standard tests I believe you need, then I will recommend they get these tests done by your PCP/put through insurance.

Some food for thought:

If your septic tank broke down would you just “deal with it”? Absolutely not! You would spend the $20 - $40k needed to replace the septic and have a clean working waste system.
If your child needed this, you would spend what it takes to make your child better. Wouldn’t you?

What’s the difference between a dietitian, a nutritionist and a health coach?

What’s the difference between a dietitian, a nutritionist and a health coach?

To hold the title of Dietitian, specifically registered dietitian (RD) there are many requirements. An RD must have a minimum of a four year college degree from an accredited university’s program that includes specific course work in human physiology, nutrition science and other sciences, must complete a 900 hour supervised hands-on internship, and must sit for and pass a national comprehensive examination. RDs must also obtain continuing education every few years and are held to a professional code of ethics. All Dietitians are Nutritionists, but Nutritionists are not Dietitians.

The term nutritionist isn’t regulated so anyone can call himself or herself a nutritionist, with no formal training or certification. There are Nutritionists who hold higher degrees and are wonderful providers so it’s wise to always check credentials on the person using the title nutritionist before accepting them as a nutrition expert.
 
A “Health Coach” or “CHC” attends the Institute of Integrated Nutrition’s program, which is just 1 year long, and certification is granted through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. And, in 2011, the school converted to online-learning only. If you do a search online you will find many short, online programs for health coaches. One should question the depth of expertise that can be acquired in such a short period of time, and the fact that admission requirements are lax and classes are pass-fail. Health coaches are not legally allowed to provide disease-specific nutrition suggestions or individual diet recommendations. That being said, health coaches can serve a purpose in the field of wellness, great for motivation and accountability and helping people make healthy changes for the better! I believe quality nutrition should be accessible to all who need it. Prices reflect the time involved in treatment and were kept as low as possible. Bodhi Nutrition (previously Kiwi Nutrition Counseling) has had an in-person private practice for over 10 years in the Princeton community. Thanks to covid Rachel was able to dive into virtual counseling and realized how effective and convenient it is for clients. Currently Bodhi Nutrition continues to offer purely virtual sessions but does plan on re-opening an in-person office space down the road. Stay tuned.
