The sanskrit word bodhi, pronounced “bow-dee”, means to awaken, to understand or become enlightened. It is said Buddha sat under the bodhi tree when he reached enlightenment.
I named my practice Bodhi Nutrition, as my mission is to provide a clear, guided path to your nutritional enlightenment. In a world filled with google and social media, we are constantly seeing information on how to be healthier and fix our ailments. While the abundance of information at our fingertips is in some ways incredible, it can also become overwhelming and lead us down winding paths of mis-information and even greater confusion. Add to this, the way modern medicine works, where most of us feel rushed and just another number, many times medical tests show everything as “fine” OR they show abnormalities but the answer is to take another medication or find ways to live with the issue. Diagnosis like irritable bowel syndrome are given without any advise on finding the WHY behind it. We are told we need to loose weight, often times with the blanket statement of “eat less and exercise more”. We are left confused and frustrated.
During my 10 years in private practice I’ve seen so many clients who are worn down from the cycle of doctor’s visits and trying the latest “diet”. The problem with these avenues is they are not specific to your unique body, and they are not looking for the ROOT cause of your problem. IBS shouldn’t be a life sentence. Your metabolism doesn’t go away, never to return. Eating less and exercising more is sometimes the opposite of what you need to do to loose weight.
My goal is to help you understand the workings of your unique body, listen to the signal’s it’s giving you, and get to the root cause of your issues. With these tools we can then make a clear plan to heal your metabolism (gut, inflammation, hormones, etc) and you can feel EMPOWERED in your body and in your food choices.
Bodhi Nutrition works primarily with those who are struggling with what feels like a stagnant metabolism or disordered digestion. Metabolism & digestion often go hand in hand. If your digestive tract is off, if it’s imbalanced, poorly breaking down food and struggling to assimilate nutrients, then your metabolism will be impacted. If your gut lining is hyper-permeable, you are passing substances into your blood stream that will lead to inflammation in your body. Chronic inflammation will negatively impact metabolism. If you are underrating and over-exercising in an attempt to lose weight, you could be negatively impacting your digestion. If you are chronically stressed due to your diet, exercise, and lifestyle, this will not only negatively impact your metabolism but it will also wreak havoc on your digestion.

As a mom and a professional that has loved working with children, kid’s are definitely clients of Bodhi Nutrition. It is so very important to start building a healthy gut as early as possible AND to teach children how to listen to their bodies. It’s important to raise children who are in alignment with their hunger and fullness cues, and who have been introduced to a wide variety of foods from an early age.
